Medicating the cat will provide them prompt relief from biting fleas, but will not prevent re-infestation.

If possible, treating the outdoor environment where the cats roam and the areas where fleas are most likely to live will help make the treatment of the cats more effective.

Outdoors, fleas prefer moist, shady, cool places. They especially like shrubs, leaves, and trees, and tend to avoid sunny areas and open grass.

Environmental treatment to eliminate fleas is a whole other topic because that discussion must address outdoor and indoor environments, natural and chemical methods and more, so we will cover that in another article.

If you would like to recommend another treatment medicine that is not listed, do so in a comment.
